Daniel Urban

I studied at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York and the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles until 2006.

Since 2009, I have been working as a full-time actor and have filmed for various series such as "Herzflimmern" (ZDF), "Hubert und Staller" (ARD), "SOKO 5113" (ZDF), "Die Chefin" (ZDF), "SOKO Leipzig" (ZDF), "Der Alte" (ZDF), and "Die Augenzeugen" (ARD and Servus TV). From 2009 to 2020, I played the role of "Paul Gierke" in the hit ARD series "Um Himmels Willen."

Since 2015, I have been an acting lecturer at Theater Werkmünchen and have worked for years as a set coach and acting coach with well-known actors. In 2004, I received acting funding from the German Federal Film Board (FFA), which allowed me to work with many renowned acting teachers in Los Angeles and New York—including Susan Batson, Larry Moss, Judith Weston, Ivana Chubbuck, Kirk Baltz, John Costopoulos, and Mark Travis.

I am officially recognized by the Government of Upper Bavaria as a vocational and further education provider in the fields of systemic training and coaching, as well as acting training and acting courses.

I welcome you to my tailor-made 1:1 acting coaching sessions. I offer private lessons for actors, aspiring actors, models, and performers. I also warmly welcome career changers and individuals who want to rediscover a sense of vitality and are ready to grow and evolve.

From the preparation and execution of self-tapes (e-castings) to script analysis and emotional preparation, I give you the tools to hold your own in any film or television project.

The central concept of my teaching is nothing new to the art of acting. My main focus is on "emotional coaching"—the Meisner technique. However, this is not about "pretending." Instead, it is rooted in what arises from the encounter and the relationship with the other person. It also involves exploring undiscovered or unexpressed feelings, as well as rediscovering and utilizing suppressed emotions. Everything serves to unlock your artistic potential. It is about authentic and truthful experiencing under "imaginary" circumstances. I deliberately avoid using the word "playing" or "acting." Max Reinhardt called actors who were so authentic due to their inner experiencing Wahrspieler ("truth-players") rather than Schauspieler ("show-players").

Modern acting techniques and their practical effectiveness for both beginners and professionals. Finally, you can stop "acting" and start authentically living the role—and book the job.

All of my coaching sessions, processes, and interventions are designed to guide you toward self-acceptance, self-acknowledgment, and self-love. That is my true intention and mission.
